Perhaps the worst part of being laid up physically is being hyper-aware mentally.

Our branding season started today, and for the first time in 13 years, I wasn’t part of it. My family sweetly told me how I was missed, but aside from fewer photos, my typical branding iron and table-tipping duties were well-handled … of course, there was no doubt that would be the case.

Branding is one of my favorite ranch seasons, and I’m bummed to sit this one out. But, there was special joy living this season through the eyes, stories, and experiences of our children!
